Teatergrillen is growing

teatergrillen

Teatergrillen, one of Stockholm’s most well-known classic restaurants, is expanding. Known as a favourite among Stockholm’s culture and media crowd, a sister restaurant – Teaterbaren – is set to open in the neighbouring building, with a terrace on Nybrogatan 3. The terrace has room for around 30 guests, while the bar houses 20 seats.

The terrace has already opened, while the bar will be built during the summer months. Teatergrillen’s dining room, designed by Yngve Gamlin, may have remained more or less unchanged since the 1960s, but the newcomer will get a modern interior by designer Jonas Bohlin.

“Teaterbaren is designed to exude good food. Everyone is welcome, and it will show that the place has a theatrical temprament,” Bohlin promises.

Summer deals

If you don’t feel like standing in your kitchen and slaving away to make dinner for your loved ones on hot summer days, several Stockholm restaurants are coming to your rescue with special summer deals that won’t break the bank.

Riche is attempting to lure in guests with two menus – one to share with a friend and a vegetarian summer option with three courses – boquerones, chicken and berries or gazpacho, root vegetables and strawberries – for 350 and 300 kronor, respectively. Tennstopet is highlighting herring during the month of June; you can enjoy either their small herring buffet with two different house aquavits for 238 kronor, or the big one with eight aquavits to choose from, for 322 kronor.

And if a barbecue is more your thing, head to Djurgårdsbrunn, where a buffet brunch is served on summer weekends. Grilled lamb, chicken, pork and fish, home-baked bread, salads and classic desserts such as raspberries with vanilla cream and apple pie are yours for 285 kronor.
