New Feelings

I first came across New Feelings over a year ago when I saw them open for another band at Debaser Strand, and the first thing that hits you about them is ‘who are these dudes in the suits?’. Between that and their all-out nostalgia pop, they certainly made an impression (another artist who I interviewed a few days later, and had also been at the show, brought them up in conversation too). The band (Olle Strandberg, Anton Strandberg Joel Tiger and Teodor Juel Eckerström) have now signed to Rama Lama Records and are ready to launch themselves 100% into Stockholm’s music scene. And their secret weapon is their new single, Real Love.

Real Love, and the band themselves, have come tumbling out of the 80’s so hard that its difficult to even place them in modern times. This is essentially everything fans of pop from that era love: official band ‘uniform’, aesthetic, gleaming synth sheen and a chorus that stretches epic emotion-ing into the stratosphere. It is a bit daft? Yeah sure, but that’s only part of the fun. If what you want from your music is a soundtrack to staring out over the city skyline, contemplating your romantic triumphs/ failures/ whatever and having big feelings, then this is for you. Check it out with the similarly cliche-embracing video below. New Feelings’ debut EP is called Introducing, and its out on April 13 on Rama Lama Records.
