It might not come as a surprise that the most equal country in the world also has the best initiatives for making the society even more equal. Rättviseförmedlingen, or Equalisters as they are known in English, is a project that aims to correct imbalances of representation in media, culture, business and other contexts. Equalisters enables organisations, companies and journalists to find alternatives who will contribute to more equal representation when looking for expertise in any given area.

And on Sunday March 1st they celebrate their fifth anniversary with a festival at the prestigious Moderna Museet.

“Equalisters is a seminal non-profit organisation who are taking issues around societal norms to a new level, challenging accustomed pattern of thoughts. It’s important and a lot of fun that Moderna Museet can cooperate and host an equality festival,” says Catrin Lundqvist, custodian at Moderna Museet.

Among the events during the full day of festivities are a birthday show with stand-up comedian Moa Svan and guests, a live interview with Equalisters chairman Seher Yilmaz by Kristoffer Triumf and a pre-showing of the feature film Svenskjävel (titled Underdog in English) that will have its official premiere on March 27.

“To be able to put Equalisters’ stamp on Moderna Museet is a dream come true. Art and culture are decisive in evoking new thinking, so it feels even better to do this together with them. We have actually been looking forward to this party for several years, and now when the program pieces are beginning to fall into place, we need to pinch ourselves in the arm to grasp that this is actually going to go ahead,” says Sofia Embrén, CEO at Equalisters.
