30 years of edgy art

All through summer at Bonniers Konsthall you can enjoy art by those who have received the Bonnier foundation’s stipend. Maria Bonnier Dahlins stiftelse has helped young artists for 30 years and now, you can see all 79 of the lucky ones in a collective exhibition that gives a view of contemporary Swedish art history.

The founder of the foundation is Jeanette Bonnier, who started it in memory of her daughter who passed away in a car accident, 20 years old. Back then she studied in New York, and was at the centre of the city’s vibrant art scene.

The idea has been to find the new, and the avant-garde. The medium has ranged from painting, to sculpture, video, installation and performance. As the artists have received the stipend, the foundation has also bought one piece of their artwork. Now, they are all shown together. 30 years of edgy art that creates an interesting journey where things that once were new, now feel, if not old then at least, established.
