Kristina Abelli Elander’s colourful fantasy world is populated with different personas. She is inspired by tivolis and having fun, which is obvious from the pictures. She says that Superbruden is all about finding yourself as a human being, with its cyclic rise and fall of human life.
With her original style, Abelli Elander has influenced the way Swedish art has developed since the 1980s. Still, her artistic work has not gotten a lot of notice. That’s about to change with a large show at Kulturhuset this summer – with pieces from her whole career, curated by legendary Marianne Lindberg de Geer. And while you are at Kulturhuset, don’t miss the other shows going on: Glass is tomorrow at Nationalmuseum Design at the 4th floor, and Loranga Loranga! in the Studio. The latter is suitable for the whole family, so bring friends of all ages along on a rainy summers day!
Kristina Abelli Elander’s Superbruden is on display until 23 August, at Kulturhuset Galleri 3, 3rd floor
