Café Boom

The Stockholm café culture is going through a drastic change, which is something we reflected upon with the opening of *Haga Tårtkompani & Bageri* (Issue 29). Run by three siblings with a penchant for coffee, Café Pascal (pictured) is another current café hotspot. Sourcing the beans from small Swedish roasters such as Da Matteo, Love Coffee and Coppi, as well as hyped California coffee roaster Supersonic, the brew is prepared through the pour over technique.

The organic merchant Ekodirect in Enskede has recently opened up a tiny café in the store, where baked goods from Konditori Genuin (in Järna) and coffee beans from Johan & Nyström are available.

The *canelé*, a pastry with origins from the Bordeaux region, has been French *madame* Sophie Maillard’s passion and business idea since she set up Sophies Canelé a few years ago. She is now working on expanding through the opening of a very own café in the Vasastan neighbourhood.

Most known for having been part of the Frantzén-Lindeberg duo, Daniel Lindeberg gave up his Wienerbageriet stint to set up shop in Orminge, an eastern Stockholm suburb. Lindeberg has a strong belief that even suburbia should have the right to a good cinnamon roll. And we agree!
