His father Loudon Wainwright III was a brilliant musician. Leave it to chance that his spawn would have a highly lucrative career in the same field, even as a successful composer and solo artist. The song by Rufus’ father, Rufus is a tit man, is a great example of Loudon’s familiar joking tone in many of his songs. Rufus Wainwright, on the other hand, hasn’t followed his father’s footsteps when it comes to comical styles in his music.
Rufus Wainwright is a hidden genious, a subliminal character put on this earth to compose wonderful music. His often melancholic tones awakens feelings in me I get whenever I hear a Jeff Buckley song, or something by Nirvana perhaps. It’s often sad and beautiful.
Get down to the astonishing Filadelfiakyrkan tonight, bring your cigarettes and chocolate milk and be sad and beautiful with Rufus Wainwright.
