Club King Kong and Club Popaganda invite you to spring’s fattest popfest with Vit Päls and Det Stora Monstret!

VIT PÄLS

Malmö band Vit Päls was founded in 2004 and originally had only one member – Carl Johan Lundgren. He released his first four EPs on Canarie Records which consisted of lo-fi material recorded at home in his bedroom.

Vit Päls grew over time into a band nine members strong and who notably recorded a 21 song album. Their critically acclaimed debut won them a large following and they soon became an important part of the Swedish pop scene.

The band has had success at festivals such as Way Out West and Popaganda where their high energy, captivating live performances, and engaging stage presence continue to win over more audiences. Autumn 2013 saw the release of their new album, Ägd.  The lead single, Sov hos mig i natt, spread quickly through social media and soon got rotation on P3.

DET STORA MONSTRET

Sometimes we find music that gives us hope that this art form is continuing to develop and that life has a meaning that is worth singing about. Det Stora Monstret’s heavy pop with its crisp, sharp lyricism and bittersweet melodies is exactly that kind of music.  The debut album was recorded and produced by band frontman Jacob Johansson and producers Filip Leyman (Anna Von Hausswolf ) and Christoffer Berg (Fever Ray, Depeche Mode, The Knife).

On January 22 the band released its self-titled debut album, which has received incredible acclaim –  A record Gaffa calls “the Swedish debut of the year!”

DJS

The DJ booth at Medis will be occupied by both Popaganda and King Kong’s illustrious DJs. There will be everything from twee to techno and certainly a lot of surprises. Club King Kong is organized by Kulturföreningen Donkeyboys in cooperation with ABF Stockholm .
