Celebrity Winemakers

The trend of celebrities and rock bands making, or rather getting involved in, their own wine doesn’t seem to be diminishing. Whatever you think about the phenomenon, there is obviously an appeal – we think it’s a matter of who’s involved (especially from the winery side of things).

Admittedly given their reputation, we’re not really sure about the prospect of relaxing with a nice glass of Slayer wine, but when our favourite dog – a half-alcoholic one at that – is involved in two new wines it certainly piques our attention.

Created by cartoonist Martin Kellerman, Rocky doesn’t do much else apart from sketch and drink, which gives it a genuine stamp of approval.

Famous for its port wine, the town of Porto is a heaven for wine geeks of all kinds, and the collaboration between our dear Rocky and the Portugese Niepoort winery has resulted in two wines – the Rocky Douro and the Rocky Douro Branco.

The Douro is an intense red, while the Branco is a lively and fruity white, based on some of the best white port grapes Rabigato and Gouveio, among others.
