Hat lovers unite! Designer Lars Nilsson is now sharing the treasures from his hat collection with the general public at Hallwylska museet on Hamngatan. With museum founder Wilhelmina von Hallwyl also a hat afficianoado, there is a definite love of millinery in the air.

Nilsson has been interested in fashion since his teens, when he made clothes for a range of rock groups. He worked as a design director at Christian Lacroix, moving on to a variety of jobs such as studio coordinator at Dior, collaborating with John Galliano and then working for Ralph Lauren, Bill Blass, Nina Ricci and Gianfranco Ferré. He then started his own brand Mr Nils, and is now working as artistic director at Comptoir des Colonniers and Princesse Tam Tam.

There are 50 exclusive hat pieces from Nilsson’s collection on display, made by Coco Chanel, Christian Lacroix, Yves Saint Laurent and hat-maker supreme Philip Treacy.

The exhibition Hatten av!  Hattar ur designern Lars Nilssons samling (Hats off! Hats from designer Lars Nilsson’s collection) is showing until June 8 when it comes to an end with a hat parade between 12-16.
