Having started out by releasing songs on cassette-only EPs and a vinyl-exclusive 12”during the first years of his career, fingerstyle guitarist and Chicago native Ryley Walker finally got around to releasing his debut album kinds of You in April this year.

            His style is peculiar in its nostalgic feel, where nods to acts like Crosby, Stills & Nash and Townes van Zandt are recurring. But like most acts that play modern music with a nostalgic aura, it still has that new feel; the violins and crisp guitar picking makes it greatly interesting and surely a live act to be blown away by. Ryley Walker seems to embrace most of what was great about the 60s guitar music; he just decided to sprinkle some future on it.
