JAQE-PRICE-HHNS

Jaqe + Marcus Price @ Wax & Gold, September 27

Growing up in Malmö, where hip hop never had the same possibilities as in Stockholm, Jaqe kind of fell behind when record labels started putting all their money on the more established artists. This was when people started downloading music illegally, the digital revolution was right at out door steps and this most likely affected an extraordinary amount of talented musicians all over the world. They never had the chance, because, who would pay to hear someone unknown?

Jaqe is considered to be one of the best rappers in Sweden right now. Despite this fact there are not many people that know who he is. He’s featured on several other artists albums. Jaqe doesn’t have Twitter, Instagram of Facebook channels to promote himself. According to an interview he did with Nöjesguide, where this derives from a firm belief in being over exposed. Success doesn’t have to automatically entail being recognized on the street.

The extended play Jaqe released earlier this spring is a frustrated, intense and explosive rap album produced by Södermalm producer Marcus Price. It’s an epic display of one of Sweden’s most overlooked rappers ever. Catch him live at Wax & Gold.
