Richard Swift and Damien Jurado completed their holy, three-album collaboration with the latest release from Seattle wonder boy Jurado – Brothers and Sisters of the Eternal Son. The collaboration has been called a ”psychedelic experimentation,” deriving much of its inspiration from abstract sources such as dreams and religious motifs. Along the way, it breathes new life to Jurado’s song-writing.
Jurado’s continued willingness to evolve has become something of a trademark, never trusting a successful album’s sound and instead doing what feels interesting at the time – even if this doesn’t correlate with what his fans might expect from him. In his old song Working Titles, Jurado perfectly describes his career with his earnest voice and the line, ”Many nights you would hide from the audience, when they were not in tune with your progress.”
So try tuning in with his progress when he arrives back late this month.
Damien Jurado is playing Kägelbanan on May 30.
