Theatre Highlight: Shakespeare In Love

Posted December 5, 2018 in More

Shakespeare In Love took the reverse route many cultural items take, by starting off as a film (1998) and then becoming a play (2014). It takes its background and setting from history and then springs them into the fictional world, with the play’s startpoint being the fictional Shakespeare suffering from a bout of writer’s block.  He has a play with the character Romeo, but can’t quite get it finished. Meanwhile, a young woman, Viola, is desperate to auction for the playwright. You can probably see where this is going by now. This version at Stadsteatern is directed by Ronny Danielsson and stars some of their big acting names.
