It’s kinda weird how in the past year or two everyone started a podcast, right? Did we give up on the sound of silence or music or whatever? Anyway, the era of the podcast is in full flow these days, and nowhere more so than in the USA, where around 1,600 political podcasts have been started since last year’s election. Obviously, some of those are scraping around in the sub-three listener category on Soundcloud, but some have really hit the heights, and Pod Save America is one of the most popular. With around one and a half million listens every episode, the podcast started by four former staffers in the Obama administration has become a major anti-Trump voice on the cultural scene. The podcast’s Jon Favreau says “When Donald Trump won the presidential election we decided that democracy wasn’t just a job for politicians. It is a job for every single American, and it’s not just a responsibility that ends on election day – it’s a job that must be performed every day. It’s a struggle”. They’ve since toured as a live show in the US, and after the new year they’re coming to Europe, including a Stockholm date.
