Selling like hotcakes

In these times of the rediscovering of traditional manual skills, the artisanal crafts courses at Skansen zoo have proven to be as hard to book as a table at Frantzén – but equally worth it if you manage it.

In December, you can learn how to cook tunnbröd, Sweden’s variant of flatbread, as it was done over a century ago. It is quite a painstaking procedure, as the heating of the oven is started several days in advance, to reach its optimal baking temperature. Learn how to roll out, brush and “chip” the unleavened barley dough before placing the bread in the oven at a temperature of over 400 degrees.
