On Being An Angel
American photographer Francesca Woodman was just 23 when she passed away, but in the last few years before her premature death she took some pictures that retain the ability to both haunt and spellbind us. In her images, she explores gender, representation, sexuality and the human body. The portraits show her and her friends, often placed behind furniture, with a blurred focus hiding the identity. She started photographing as a teenager and continued at college, experimenting with techniques other than the go-to gelatin silver prints. At her death, she left a few hundred prints behind. Enjoy the mysterious and claustrophobic mood throughout the fall at Moderna.

The Swedish Contemporary Art Foundation, you can see work by the minimalist dance artist Simone Forti. which gives a deep insight into the influential artist, writer, dancer and choreographer. Born in 1935 in Italy, Forti broke through in the 1960s, developing her groundbreaking stance on dance, involving improvisation and movements from everyday life. How do we use our bodies as tools for experience and interaction?

Still life
At Waldemarsudde you can currently enjoy a large exhibition with Karin Broos (born 1950), one of the most talked-about contemporary artists in Sweden. Her photorealism depicts everyday situations, with feelings mixed between melancholy and sadness. The motifs are often homely, nature or close family members. In this exhibition we get to see 70 paintings from 2008 until today, 20 of which have never before been shown. Many are centered around what is traditionally the female world – Broos is watching people, wrapped up in their own worlds. There are also a bunch of talks about mother-daughter relationships in connection with the show, which we strongly suggest you go check out.
