Taking it to the Streets

With a penchant for gastronomy already apparent from the name,  credit card company Diners Club are set to, bring out their own food truck, and naturally enough it is done with style and grandeur. Who else would be suitable for the job as temporary chef than the country’s most celebrated Michelin chef Mathias Dahlgren?

During lunch hour from September 2 to September 6, Dahlgren will give his interpretation of what contemporary Swedish street food is. “My idea is to make the type of food I myself grew up with and love, which is almost never served anymore, available to a greater audience. It will be Grandma Alice’s food, freely reinterpreted by me to suit the context of a food truck in 2014,” says Dahlgren.

The same food truck will also visit Helsinki, Copenhagen and Oslo, where other local chefs will get on board to cook up their vision of Nordic street food. Although no spot has been picked out for the Street Food by Diners Club event in Stockholm, we are pretty confident queues will run up and down the street. Perhaps it is time for Diners Club to bring out the stanchions, velvet ropes and security guards?
