In many ways, Canada’s Mac DeMarco’s career has been split into two phases. He started off as the slacker clown, with songs dedicated to Viceroy cigs and crowned with the Pitchfork documentary about him, Pepperoni Playboy, which included a shot of him taking a shower on the toilet (that’s not a typo). Then there’s the second half of his career, with DeMarco firmly established as a homebird (now in LA), and writing soft, vulnerable songs about insecurity and making peace with your family history. Both phases have made him an indie star, and he comes to Sweden in July.
