You probably didn’t know, or at least I didn’t know, that a guy from Gothenburg was Walt Disney’s art director. But that’s exactly the journey Gustaf Tenggren took. Growing up as one of six in the little village of Magra by Alingsås, he later studied in Gothenburg where one of his clients was Stora Teatern. After emigrating to the US, he came to the attention of Disney, who brought him in to work on the posters and visuals around films in the 1930s. This exhibition at Millesgården collects work from Tenggren’s life over a 60-year span, including some of his most celebrated children’s books.
