Whiskey Sour

Cocktail of the month: Whiskey sour

For this month’s cocktail, T-BAR’s master bartender Jesper Nilsson has gone for a true vintage delight; the whiskey sour. Here is how he makes a whiskey sour.

Why this particular cocktail?

We decided to go back to basics this month and choose a classic American drink, one which is very popular among our customers at T-Bar in Hotel Diplomat. The whiskey sour is a drink that is easy to make and is always a reliable choice.

Can the ingredients of the whiskey sour be varied?

Bourbon is most suited as the cocktails main component, yet using Irish whiskey or Scotch instead can provide the drink with a different taste and impression. Isla whiskeys in particular give the drink a very smoky flavour. The finished drink can be served either with or without ice and garnish; it can subtly change the flavour and so depends entirely on your particular taste.

How to make it:

“Mix good quality bourbon with fresh lemon juice and sugar,” Nilsson says. “Shake well and pour into a glass with ice. Garnish with a little slice of lemon or orange peel.”
