Weekend

PARTY: MIDSOMMAR SÖDRA TEATERN

What better way to spend Midsommar (assuming you’re not helicoptering in to your countryside mansion) than at Södra Teatern? Drag artist Miss Inga and Södran’s creative leader Ingmari Pagenkemper (as her alter-ego Helga) lead the celebrations. There’s a traditional menu on offer, and DJs all night until 03:00.

Jun 22, 12:00-03:00, Södra Teatern

FOOTBALL: TRÄDGÅRDEN

Its’s a big one this weekend. Sweden’s World Cup got off to the best of starts with victory over South Korea (thank you Granqvist we love you forever), but they’ll need more points to get out of the group. And on Saturday they face a Germany side who’ll be fired up from their defeat in their opening match to Mexico. Gulp. It’s on the big screen at Trädgården on Saturday, and Mohamed Touzari and Gärigheter take over on DJ duties after the match.

Jun 23, 18:00-03:00, Trädgården

CLUB: SUNDAY SCHOOL

Slakthuset’s Sunday club doesn’t take a break for the Midsommar weekend. They’ll be back on the roof terrace this Sunday, with tropical beats, BBQ and of course, cava. Gabriella (Håll Käften Och Dansa), Uncle Eric (Barracuda), DJ Erykah (Sugarcane) and Soca Dennis (SocaBeach) are your DJs.

Jun 24, 15:00-00:00, Slakthuset

EXHIBITION: INGMAR BERGMAN

A titanic figure in cinema and theatre, Ingmar Bergman’s career lasted for over 60 years. And now you can take a journey through the whole thing, as Bergman – lögn och sanning opens at Scenkonstmuseet. The exhibition collects material – film clips, manuscripts, costumes, photographs, notes and more – from Bergman’s personal and professional lives, and collects it all in a walk-through that moves in chronological order from the 1930s to the 2000s. The exhibition was originally shown in Berlin, and has since toured in Los Angeles and Gent. In this incarnation, it’s been curated by the scenographer Anna Bergman, who worked with Bergman during his final years at Dramaten (and was even married to his son). “Theatre was the backbone of Ingmar Bergman’s art. It was there he began his career and there he ended it. Between those two points, his career was characterised by the interplay between film and theatre. He used ideas from film in theatre and ideas from theatre in film. In his films, he also returned to theatre as a setting, to the opera house, to an actors’ lodge. Theatre was his world”, says Anna Bergman.

Scenkonstmuseet, open Fri, Sat, Sun, 11:00-17:00
