Artipelag’s autumn exhibition Margiela/ Hermès takes a look back at a notable time in fashion history, and the collaboration between Belgian designer Martin Margiela and the historic fashion house Hermès. Between the years 1997 and 2003, Margiela was given the task of creating women’s collections for the 200-year-old brand. This collaboration created fashion that went to places never explored before, an avant-garde mix of Margiela’s adventurism and Hermès’ tradition and heritage. The exhibition opens in March, having been originally put together by Margiela and Kaat Debo for ModeMuseum Antwerp. This Artipelag version presents Margiela’s own work in contrast with his Hermès creations.
